Minetest just doesn’t feel like a game. It feels like a monotonous program. The original minecraft font (at this link) would do wonders to lighten the atmosphere. The sans-serif font used in the game just feels too professional, serious, and modern.
As per the idiom “play hard & work hard,” I like my play to be playful and my work to be productive. Minetest simply does not feel playful right now, so its hard to play.
Would be awesome!
While agreeing in principle the font still need to adhere to a proper free license. Probably CC-BY-SA or one of the established truly free font licenses.
This font seems to be similar if not the same and is released under public domain: https://www.fontspace.com/heaven-castro/roboto-remix
Currently, Minetest does not support custom game-specified fonts at all. The font must be set manually by the player. So for now, this is a Minetest issue.
How to get an awesome font:
Use these settings:
font_path, font_size, font_shadow, font_shadow_alpha
Here’s a CC BY-SA 3.0 font:
font_path = /path/to/Minecraftia.ttf
font_size = 16
font_shadow_alpha = 63
font_shadow = 2
Sadly, the Minecraftia 2.0 font only supports a little bit more than plain ASCII.
No due date set.
This issue currently doesn't have any dependencies.
