We've had two discord reports about flying kelp.

It happens most often when walking around (or flying) into new areas... so I am thinking that maybe it's from the mapgen? Just a guess there.

Occurs in: Minetest 5.6.1; 0.81 and 0.82-indev. Affected Mapgens: v5, V7.

I don't think this is a duplicate issue. Different code sets velocity on mobs to items. Quantity does not define behaviour. Root cause may be different.

After some reflection, it makes sense to consolidate the issues. They may be different causes slightly, but they can be addressed around the same time, and fixing the first issue, makes the floating less significant. Closing in favour of #3061
