Delete Branch "%!s(<nil>)"
Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
Possibly a duplicate? But it's important. Boats should start moving quickly and stop moving immediately. Often they drive on for a while.
Have you checked this in Minecraft 1.12?
I agree with NO11.
IDK about 1.12, but I think we shouldn't allow a version number to get in the way of a better UX.
I agree with better UX if it's technically possible. However, knowing how boats work makes me use them accordingly. If I have to stop fast, I just "backpedal" a bit.
If this happens in Multiplayer only we can't do anything about it, it's a lag problem then.
If this happens in Singleplayer too it's an intended gameplay feature and I don't see a reason to change it to make it easier than it is in Minecraft. With the same argument we could or lower the Enchanting table XP cost or remove zombies because they are scary.
Mineclone2 has plenty of version ambiguity as is. eg. crawling is 1.16, swimming animations are 1.13... I'm not suggesting we deviate from our goal, I'm saying that if boat physiscs were tweaked after 1.12 then there must have been a good reason for it.
My question was not only about the version of Minecraft, but whether it is like that in Minecraft at all.
And only because we do something we shouldn't once, it does not mean we need to do it twice.
I don't have Minecraft myself, but:
My friend tested it for me and found that the boat behavior is very different. It was in 1.16, but the slow start is really annoying.
I still need to know whether the slow start also occurs in singleplayer. Since "slow" is something very subjective I'm not able to verify myself whether you consider the boat start in singleplayer "slow".
This is also the case in single player mode. Driving is a little faster than in multiplayer mode, but it should stop driving immediately.
I think this is also the same with horses. It would be nice to not have to carefully press the key for the opposite direction the right amount of time.
Ok, I just tested this in singleplayer, both in MC2 (0.70) and Minecraft JE 1.16.5.
Sarting the boat and getting to full speed:
MC2: about 2(+?) seconds
MC: about 1 second
Stopping the boat
MC2: oops, if you're on a large body of water you can surely ride it for over 10 seconds after you stop touching the keyboard; my test lasted about 10 because I ran out of water surface
MC: stops in about 1 second
Bonus: In Minecraft, a boat will break lily pads (and the player collects them) if it runs into them. In MC2, the boat will stop instantly.
I thought it would be fixed here?
As mentioned, I tested MC2 0.70, which is older than 2 weeks. It's great if that will work properly in the next release. :)
Oh, also about boat speed there's an adjustment needed for land speed, which is quite lower than the 2 m/s in Minecraft. And using the boat on non-liquid blocks also gets you to full speed quite slower. Even the steering is super slow on land - it takes about 4 seconds for a 90-degree turn, compared to 2 seconds in Minecraft.
A boat does break lilypads. It's just not in 0.70. Since I did a lot of changes to boats after 0.70 I really recommend using the latest version for boat testing.
What about Minetest compatibility? Which features require 5.4.0?
The current MineClone2 dev-lastest is 100% compatible with Minetest 5.3. If you want to use features that require 5.4, you need to enable them in the settings (3d_player_preview is pretty much the only one)
