Delete Branch "release_0.81.0"
Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
ToDo
Changes
New devs: Faerraven, Ancientmarinerdev
New contrib: TheOnlyJoeEnderman, anarquimico, Ranko_Saotome
Note for texture pack developers: We're going to change the cocoa pods to use meshes instead of a nodebox which will sadly require a change in texture packs - this is however being done to better support (non standard size) texture packs. Similar things might be done with other nodeboxes in the future.
Note for Mapgen v6 users: Starting with 0.82 mapgen v6 will be removed from the "create world" dialog. v6 support in the game might eventually be discontinued as well. If you use v6 please contact us – just so we know if there are even any v6 users (support isn't great as is because v6 does not support the biome api).
List of things to put in a video?
I will try and capture some villager and hopper minecart footage if it will help @AFCMS
We definitely want the nether stuff in there. I'm happy to try and capture more footage if we have a list and steps on how to recreate.
If you can record in a good quality it will be super helpful!
My pc doens't like running OBS + Minetest at the same time :-/
It would nice to cover all the visual things in the changelog. Here are some techniques that I used when trying to do a trailer for a previous version (my PC also can't handle both OBS and the game for a smooth video and I gave up).
Break down the process by starting with a good duration for a trailer - 90 seconds. With an intro and outro of 3 seconds each, the remaining 84 seconds go to showcasing everything. You end up with X seconds/item, and static stuff (signs, itemframes, etc) is ok with a maximum of 3 seconds of view time, so actions like villagers doing stuff can be shown for longer.
When there are many static things to show, similar ones can be grouped in a longer shot and labeled with text on video, to quickly direct focus on them and save time/item. This is easier to do by preparing the environment in advance, so you can smoothly follow a path and have less cuts and transitions.
Flying at normal speed looks pretty good for such shots. Once you figure out a way to chain some items on the list, a bit of flying around will make it easier to decide where to set up flyby routes. If there are too many even grouped, the trailer can go up to 2 minutes and that's it.
For changelog items that can't be chained, it helps doing 10-15 second videos that you can later cut the relevant seconds from.
An idea for the new Nether terrain if it's not hard to do with your editor, you can have a side by side (before/after) flyby for a greater visual impact, with the older terrain sliding out of the frame after 3-4 seconds. This can be integrated with one or more of the Nether stuff to show: bulwark, bridge fragment, strider.
You can also place potted Nether plants outside or inside the Cleric's house when showcasing the villager-related features.
Don't know where to comment it, but I would be willing to help start a goat and allay. I could get the models, animations, textures, basic behavior. I'd need help refining them though. Especially goat ramming, and allay picking things up and throwing them at note blocks and/or player. I could handle goat milking, allay flying. If someone already started on one or both, please tell me.
Admins, feel free to delete this comment if there is a better place for it.
It sounds good if someone hasn't worked on it. I think creating a separate issue for these can start a discussion about this if they don't already have an issue raised. It helps people see what the topic is about and they'll know whether they want to add something or not.
Here may not have the same visibility.
maybe finish the axolotl first though ?

there's already a goat model in the 22i repo .. maybe that works better than the axolotl - worth checking out i guess
